Bavaria meets Mexico

As part of the 2026 Festival of Young Artists Bayreuth, musical traditions from Mexico and Bavaria will come together for the first time in an intercultural exchange project. Under the theme “Bavaria Meets Mexico – Bridges of Sound Across Continents,” young musicians from both countries will explore the similarities and differences between mariachi music and Bavarian folk music.

This workshop will introduce traditional instruments, vocal styles, and dance forms, combining them into new musical expressions. Experienced instructors from Mexico and Bavaria will guide the participants as they collaborate on a concert program, which will be presented as a closing concert in Bayreuth.
