Intercultural Piano Pedagogy Project

The digital workshop on intercultural piano pedagogy is an international professional development program for piano teachers and advanced students. The workshop is based at the Steingraeber Haus in Bayreuth, from where it is streamed digitally and conducted in collaboration with international partners.

The focus is on issues related to teaching the piano in diverse cultural contexts. Participants gain insights into various pedagogical approaches, repertoire traditions, and teaching practices from different countries. In addition to short keynote presentations, practical examples from the classroom are presented and discussed collectively.

The workshop combines digital exchange formats with music education practice and promotes international dialogue within piano pedagogy. The goal is to open up new perspectives on teaching methods and repertoire, as well as to facilitate lasting connections between teachers and institutions from different cultural backgrounds.
