Mystery – A Journey Behind the Mask

This mask theater combines elements of traditional mask theater, Commedia dell’Arte, and allegorical narrative forms into an interactive theatrical format performed in public spaces.

The performance begins with a minimalist stage—a colorful cube—and a repertoire of handmade masks. Over the course of the performance, two performers switch between different masks, each of which embodies human behaviors and emotional states, such as aggression, arrogance, fear, or despondency. Through physical theater, singing, rhythmic elements, and improvised scenes, these character traits are exaggerated and then set aside.

The piece uses simple, portable elements such as masks, body paint, natural materials, and props, making it flexible enough to be performed in various outdoor spaces. Interactive moments engage the audience in the action on stage and create an immediate, shared theatrical experience.

At the heart of the performance is the question of human role models and how to transcend them. When the masks are removed, the focus shifts to the human being itself and to the possibility of encounter and connection.
