Intercultural exchange about classical compositions

Successful piano pedagogy project of the 71st Festival of Young Artists Bayreuth

As part of the 71st Festival of Young Artists Bayreuth, the workshop "Intercultural Piano Pedagogy Project" offered young piano teachers the opportunity to network internationally. Under the direction of Prof. Pooyan Azadeh, participants exchanged ideas on topics of piano pedagogy and piano literature of different cultures from August 13 to 16, 2021.

The initiator of the Intercultural Piano Pedagogy Project is Iranian pianist and university lecturer Prof. Pooyan Azadeh, who has been a professor of piano at Tehran University of Arts since 2015. He started the globally unique project in 2010 as part of the Bayreuth Festival of Young Artists and welcomed participants from all over the world, this year especially from the USA. With his project, Prof. Pooyan Azadeh gives participants the chance to go beyond classical compositions for the piano and explore the piano music of other cultures. The intercultural exchange also allows participants to expand their knowledge of piano pedagogy. A continuation of the project is planned for next year.
