Workshops offered by the Academy
The 76th Young Artists Festival Bayreuth will take place in July and August 2026 under the general theme “RE:SONANZ”.
Ensembles, singers and instrumental soloists will enter a lively exchange and create new compositions and formats. In Bayreuth, we work with talented and highly motivated young people who will shape their home countries in the future.

The Turkish National Youth Philharmonic Orchestra is an intercultural orchestra project that builds musical bridges and creates opportunities for encounters, exchange, and new perspectives. - Resonance of Voice, Space, and Audience
„Omnia tempus habent“ based on Carl Orff
“Omnia tempus habent” focuses on Carl Orff’s rarely performed spoken-word pieces. Drama, voice, rhythm, percussion, and pantomime merge into an interdisciplinary production that breaks down the barrier between stage and audience and allows the audience to experience the resonance firsthand. - SoundSpaces.VisualTraces
Visual art and contemporary music enter into a synaesthetic dialogue: works by Antoine Amadeus Wagner-Pasquier are musically interpreted by composition students and premiered as a special opening event in a spatial-sound installation at Steingraeber in Bayreuth. - Bavaria meets Mexico
“Bavaria meets Mexico” combines mariachi music and Bavarian folk music in an intercultural workshop. Young musicians from both countries explore instruments, singing, and dance forms and use these to develop a joint concert program. - Exchange – Young Voices
In the festival’s NGSE project, organized in collaboration with Rotary International, three young vocalists from Australia, Slovenia, and Brazil come together. Together, they develop concert programs, meet artists from the festival, and bring cultural diversity to life through music. - Cultural Salon 2026

“My Opera House of the Future” invites children and teens from the city and surrounding region to rediscover music, art, and architecture. Using their own ideas, materials, and artistic contributions, they will create a creative festival hall that brings classical culture to life in a playful way.
- Festival Kids 2026: Dream World – Mask Theater Workshop for Children
The mask theater workshop “Dream World” invites children to develop their own characters, stories, and masks, inspired by E. T. A. Hoffmann. Design, theater work, and imagination come together in a participatory creative project culminating in a short final presentation. - Mystery – A Journey Behind the Mask
“Mysterium – A Journey Behind the Mask” combines mask theater, Commedia dell’Arte, and interactive theater in public spaces. Through handmade masks, physical expression, singing, and improvisation, participants engage directly with role models and interpersonal encounters. - Festive Sounds Through the Centuries - International Brass
“International Brass” brings together young international brass players for an intensive workshop led by Otto Sauter. The focus is on festive sounds through the centuries, ensemble work, and closing concerts. - Intercultural Piano Pedagogy Project
The digital workshop on intercultural piano pedagogy brings together international perspectives on teaching, repertoire, and outreach. Based at the Steingraeber Haus in Bayreuth, it offers a practical exchange platform for teachers, students, and partner institutions worldwide. - A Cappella with KARMA
The a cappella concert with KARMA blends barbershop, jazz, pop, and folk songs into a vibrant close-harmony experience. Four voices, precise arrangements, and a close connection with the audience bring vocal ensemble art to life as a resonant dialogue. - Artists in Residence – Platform
The Artists-in-Residence platform of the Bayreuth Festival of Young Artists embodies a central tenet of the festival: not only to facilitate international artistic encounters on an ad hoc basis, but also to accompany and support young artists in their development over the years and to integrate them into the festival in a sustainable manner.
Stepping Stone
With its “Stepping Stone” educational project, the Bayreuth Festival of Young Artists offers a truly unique selling point. Under the guidance of senior partners, participants are given responsibility for their own projects: concert organization, workshop supervision, scheduling, fundraising, and project management—all of this is handled by young managers on behalf of the international artists. In the accompanying seminar, they learn and practice marketing and brand management for cultural institutions and artists, financing, service management, integrating cultural and regional marketing, and much more. “Stepping Stone” provides insights into the creative industries as well as entrepreneurial thinking—the mindset of innovative founders. Upon successful completion of the project and passing a module assignment, participants can earn 6 ECTS credits.
“We are at home in Bayreuth and all over the world”: two special projects for the city of Bayreuth and for people who can no longer come to the concert hall: “Musik frei Haus” (Music Delivered to Your Door)—hosted concerts in nursing homes and hospitals.
“Art Explains the City – City Explains Art”—a dialogic city walk featuring poetry and music. The young Stepping Stoneler maintain a stage open daily in public spaces!
